Sam Allardyce - The Elephant in the Room
|
With the prospect of Allardyce going at the end of the season, some are suggesting before that if results go against us, I have a question..
Why do you think the board would let him go if we're still in the Premiership?
They've weathered many storms, almost from the day he arrived - 'deluded' fans, insulting the club's history, ear cupping, negative tactics, supporters booing the team off etc. etc. etc. They even had the public debacle with him themselves at the end of last season.. but he's still here.
In the past, the arguments in favour of keeping him on, and I'd imagine they might be close to the board's thinking, tended to go something like..
1) Allardyce is slowly building the foundations of a new, more solid WH, which is essential after the disaster of our relegation. He's the only manager we could hope to attract that almost guarantees we don't get relegated again whilst it's happening.
2) Replacing him now would be a mistake because he's already built an 'Allardyce' squad. Any incoming manager couldn't get the same results out of it, and would want to rebuild, something we can't afford to do. Nor can we afford the disruption to the team that would cause, with the accompanying possibility of relegation, so close to the OS move.
3) As a manager, he as near to guarantees Premiership survival as we can hope get. Taking on a new manager now would be a massive gamble. It would be a total disaster for WH to enter the OS as a Championship club. It's too great a risk to take just to please some pissed off supporters.
All of that taken into consideration. At the end of this season we'll be ONE season away from the OS, giving any new manager ONE solitary chance to get it right. If it was 'too risky' to sack Allardyce during the preceding seasons, by the same logic it would be near suicidal to let him walk at the end of this one.
What could seem riskier to the board than trying to replace Sam Allardyce, and gambling everything on a new man, one season away from potentially the biggest payday of their lives?
NB. None of the above should be taken as an attempt to promote Allardyce's cause. I hate the fat cunt, and never wanted him here in the first place. But I think it's still a valid question.

Those comments are spot on mate. ____________________________
"A draw would be a great result for us..." WHAT?
Man Utd are shot to bits, half of them are 'injured', they are as vulnerable as they are ever likely to be... far from gunning for us, they will be shitting their pants in case they even so much as sense they are getting turned over again... and what does our heroic manager say? "A draw would be a great result...". Honestly, you could fucking weep.
FMOB... anybody who has managed to convince themselves that the recent change in performance is down to Allardyce having a rebirth, or getting a positive head at all, is MAD.

Saw him on the box with more defeatist bollocks for today's game. Utter utter cunt. I just want him gone; his negative attitude is nothing other than a drain on the excellent signings by the club and the attacking philosophy of Ted.

Finally listening.
:-)
He never listened, because he hates us and everything we stand for, and he is merely under the influece of a bit of MK Ulta mind control. Bless the CIA.
Don't be fooled by anyone who tries to tell you he always intended to improve the squad, given time.

Would be interesting to find out exactly how much influence Teddy is having in all of this.
If this is BFS, then good on him for finally listneing and seeing the benefit of actaully attacking teams with pace and skill.

They actually killed off Allardyce around Christmas and are using a well-trained body double.

He is doing this out of spite. He wants to put us all into a false sense of security so that the board offer him a new contract, then once signed POW back we go to negative football....jeez

The board will be begging FS to stay by the end of the season. And why not? What exactly HASN'T he done when asked?

Would like him to stay if we keep playing like this and picking up points, last two games we've been brilliant, it will be interesting/worrying to see what happens when Nolan and Carroll are fit

Perhaps he's been so busy house hunting, he's left it to Tedward to organise tactics and training. He might just be turning up on match days to take the credit.

Fairs fair. It's night and day comparing this season to last so far, it's evident the fans have been listened too and today I can only be full of gratitude to BFS and everyone at the club.
There were things I didnt agree with. The subs, the way we sat back and almost let them back in second half, but over all and that first half espectially was a joy to watch.

Re: Sam Allardyce - The Elephant in the Room

My dislike of Sam comes from his history if dull boring one dimensional tactics with no flair excitement or variety, no ability to make effective changes or to adapt or influence a game
If he has taken in board the boards comments and instructions and us now going to get us playing as we have done in the last two games, my dislike of him will reduce and I don't mind changing my opinion if him if he proves to be different from how I perceived
And I don't think that makes me fickle. I'm not convinced this leopard has changed his spots quite yet or that teaching an old dog new tricks is quite that easy, but if you ignore the abomination that was the Southampton game, we've been the best team in all our other league games this season.

The fact he accommodates Sherringham to allow him to have an influence is a positive going forward.

Have to agree ERNIE. Why would anyone moan after the last two games?
You have to credit BFS for changing style. Most of us thought he couldn't but clearly he can or he's very lucky...

No Willtell, I in fact think a good manager makes any team better, agood manager can turn a bad team into an average one, an average one into a good one and a good one into a great one.
Last season we were unlucky with injuries and had an average squad. Still we should never have been in a relegation scrap for as long as we were. And that has a lot to do with how positive or negative your approach is when setting up an even average team...
